With our engaging local Guide we start from the historic Central Market, with its workshops and multicolored stalls, where you can find the Medici Chapels and the Basilica of S. Lorenzo, the church of the Medici family, where we visit the elegant cloister, designed by Brunelleschi, the architect of the famous Dome: a green oasis of peace in the heart of the Medici district. We admire the beauty of the Palazzo Medici Riccardi and in no time we reach Piazza del Duomo, where you can admire the impressive Cathedral with the Cupola del Brunelleschi, Giotto's bell tower and the Baptistery of S. John with the Gates of Paradise.

The Tour continues visiting the medieval quarters where Dante Alighieri (the great Poet of the “Divine Comedy”)and Beatrice lived and where you also find the beautiful Badia Fiorentina with the characteristic exagonal tower.

Further ahead is the austere Bargello Palace. Walking along the Arno river you reach the Ponte Vecchio, the famous "jewels bridge". Medieval and Renaissance Florence complete Walking Tour

Your easy & complete Walking Tour through Medieval and Renaissance Florence starts from the characteristic central market neighborhood, with its workshops and multicolored stalls, where the Medici Chapels and the Basilica di San Lorenzo - the family church of the Medici - are located.

Just a few minutes walk away, you'll reach the Piazza del Duomo, where you can admire the Cathedral, including a visit of the inside, and its dome by Brunelleschi, the bell tower by Giotto, and the Saint John Baptistery with its magnificent “Gates of Paradise”.

Your tour continues with a visit of the medieval neighborhood where Dante Alighieri and his adored Beatrice lived.

From there, you'll discover the Palazzo del Bargello, which now houses the National Museum. Only a few minutes walk through the lively streets, and you'll find yourself on the famous Piazza della Signoria, with the 14th-century Loggia dei Lanzi (also called Loggia della Signoria or sometimes, after its architect, Loggia di Orcagna), Florence's most captivating outdoor sculpture gallery. The Piazza della Signoria is dominated by the Palazzo Vecchio, which is lined with a series of sculptures, including the life-sized reproduction of Michelangelo's David – arguably the most famous sculpture of all time. The Palazzo Vecchio's famous neighbor, the Uffizi Gallery, is one of the most important museums in the world.

Your guide will then take you on to the picturesque Mercato della Paglia (Straw Market), which dates back to the 11th century. It received its lovely Renaissance Loggia during the 15th century and has since then been called the “New Market.” This is where the famous “Piglet Fountain” is located, a Renaissance copy by Giambologna's student Pietro Tacca. The piglet is dear to the Florentines who rub the bronze boar's shiny snout for luck.

Your path through the heart of Florence next takes you to the Ponte Vecchio, the “jewels bridge” across the Arno river. Be prepared for stunning views onto the city - and into the windows of the jewelry shops that line the bridge. By crossing the Arno, you will reach the Oltrarno district and Florence's princely Pitti Palace - once home to the Medici, the Lorraines, and the Savoy Kings of Italy - where your tour ends.
